Despite breaking through
for his first win in the local circuit three starts back, RAJAH BROOK
started at long odds in a Class 4 - 1100m handicap at Sungei Besi here
today.
Ridden by Calvin Goon for
the first time, the New Zealand five-year-old was well back in the running
but produced a terrific burst of speed in the gome stretch to win by a neck
in a four-way photo, returning RM155 on the win tote.
RAJAH BROOK won once at
three from nine starts in New Zealand and failed to make any impression at
all in seven starts in Singapore.
His Malaysian campaign did
not start well either but at the tail-end of last year and early this season
chalked up four consecutive minor placings before breaking through for his
maiden win over 1700m last February.
Today's trip was considerably shorter than his
last few outings which probably explains why he started at generous odds.
