Jockey Jackie Chuah
suspended four months IPOH: May 12, 2015 |
|
Jockey Jackie Chuah was today handed a four-month suspension for his handling of HERE COMES THUNDER in a Class 4 - 1000m handicap here on May 3. Trained by Wong Kong Fatt, the nine-year-old finished a close third (neck and three-quarter length) to NEVERUNCONDITIONAL. The Stewards concluded an inquiry today into the riding of HERE COMES THUNDER in the above race. Further evidence were taken from Chuah and Wong Kong Fatt. After taking all evidence into consideration and viewing the videos, Chuah was found guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) in that he failed to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards and the particulars of the charge are:- 1) After securing a good jump, he made insufficient effort to hold his position in the field when there was opportunity to do so, for approximately the first 100m of the race. 2) From approximately the 350M to approximately the 220m, he failed to ride his mount with sufficient vigour and determination when there was opportunity to do so. 3) At approximately the 180m, he unnecessarily restrained his mount. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account Chuah’s riding record and mitigating factors. Chuah was suspended from riding in races for a period of four months. Acting under the provision of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred Chuah’s suspension to commence from Monday, 18 May 2015 and to expire on Thursday, 17 September 2015, both dates inclusive and he was informed of his right of appeal. |
