Daniel lands first group win

After being placed four times in group races, including a second to WAR AFFAIR in the Group 1 Singapore Guineas last year, DANIEL deservingly captured the Group 3 Paititi Gold Trophy at Kranji here today.

It was a consolation win of sort for the New Zealand gelding who was originally aimed for the Four-Year-Old series this year but a bleeding attack put paid to the plan.

DANIEL had to be spelled and was out of action since November last year and only returned to racing in the handicap event today.

But the gelding has always performed well when fresh and today was no exception, but he had to really fight hard for the victory, edging out WIMBLEDON, winner of his last three starts, by a short head.

Odds-on favourite KIWI KARMA could manage only third.
