Apprentice Deneskumar Paskaran was yesterday handed a two-month suspension and RM10,000 fine for his ride on DYNAMIC TRIO in a Class 5 - 1100m sprint at Sungei Besi here last Saturday. The four-year-old by Sandtrap from the Deputy Governor mare Sheza Rascal finished sixth of 14 runners to SEA MASTER. The stewards at the Selangor Turf Club today concluded an inquiry into the tactics that were adopted on DYNAMIC TRIO. Evidence was taken from Deneskumar, the rider of DYNAMIC TRIO, in the presence of his master, trainer Lawson Moy, who is also the trainer of DYNAMIC TRIO. After viewing the official patrol films of this event and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards acting on their own observations, found Deneskumar guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge were that passing the 400m, he failed to shift out and take a run to the outside of BLUABLE (App CC Wong) and again approaching the 200m, when in the opinion of the Stewards, it was reasonable to do so. In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Deneskumar’s mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of Deneskumar’s suspension. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two months with effect from June 1 and to July 31, both dates inclusive. He was also fined RM10,000 and advised of his right of appeal. Deneskumar subsequently exercised his right of appeal and applied for a stay of sentence. The Stewards considered the application for a stay which was allowed. The appeal hearing against the penalty of the suspension of two months and fine of RM10,000 will be held at a date to be fixed. |
