Good News for Korea-bound Tan and Chavez

Trainer Alwin Tan and jockey Oscar Chavez enjoyed the perfect send-off tonight for their trip to Korea where they will defend the Asian Cup Challenge tomorrow week with EL PADRINO.

Tan and birthday boy Chavez combined to win the main event with GOOD NEWS, beating the hot favourite OLYMPIC ANTHEM by a head in a three-way tussle.

Chavez had won twice on the Australian gelding previously, including the five-year-old's last start. GOOD NEWS has now recorded all his seven wins on the polytrack.

Tan made history last year when he became the first Singapore trainer to win a race in Korea in the inaugural Asia Cup Challenge where EL PADRINO was pitted against Korean and Japanese horses over 1400m on the dirt track.

This year's race will be run over 1200m and has been accorded international Group 3 status.

This time, Tan will also have HAPPY MONEY on the flight to Korea along with trainer Brian Dean's VALEVOLE.
