New trainer Hamilton off to flying start

PENANG:  Oct 11, 2015

Sharee Hamilton made a dream start to her full-fledged trainer when she saddled LEE'S SURPRISE to victory in the open event here today.

The former track rider who came to Malaysia to work for John Sargent in 1998 was granted her A licence early last month, after working as assistant trainer to Luke Danis and Bonny Ng, but her debut was delayed due to the outbreak of equine influenza.

Today's home-based meeting was supposed to be held last Sunday but was postponed due to haze and was the first meeting in Malaysia since Sep 23.

Hamilton had three runners in the opening race today and they finished 1, 3 and 4. It was just the second win in 29 starts for LEE'S SURPRISE who was a winner of two races in his native Italy.

Hamilton ended her dream day with another winner, DIAMOND FLAME, in the final event. It's also the second win for the Malaysian bred.
