Kiwi Karma wins first-up for new trainer

After finding one to beat in his last four starts, KIWI KARMA got back to winning ways in his first start for trainer Michael Clements in the Class 3 - 1200m handicap at Kranji here today.

Manoel Nunes, who partnered the filly in her three wins last year, was again in the saddle this time and the pair overcame the extreme outside barrier to win by one and three-quarter lengths.

KIWI KARMA had a highly campaign last year, winning three consecutive races and had three seconds in six starts as a juvenile.

After a let-up, she started favourite in her first two starts as a three-year-old on the polytrack but was back in full flow today.

"She had a bad barrier but she began so quickly. Nunes knows her so well and knows exactly what she is capable of," said Clements.

"She’s very professional. She can sit or go forward and I have no doubt she can go over 1400m and 1600m," said Nunes.

KIWI KARMA has yet to race beyond 1200m in nine starts which has brought four wins and five seconds.
