Kiwi Karma wins inaugural Prestige Classic

Super consistent KIWI KARMA won the inaugural running of the $200,000 CECF Singapore Prestige Classic in a thrilling finish despite the small field at Kranji here today.

The first to break, jockey Manoel Nunes allowed WIMBLEDON to take over the lead in the Group 3 event for three-year-olds.

While A LA VICTORY headed to the front at the top of the straight, KIWI KARMA had to wait for an opening on the rails.

A LA VICTORY spoilt his chances when he veered in badly 200m out and lost momentum while KIWI KARMA got going at the right moment and went on to beat A LA VICTORY by three-quarter length.

With the win, his second group success after the Group 2 Aushorse Golden Horseshoe last May, KIWI KARMA boosts his record to five wins and five seconds from as many starts.

"There was a lot of pace on her outside and Manoel did a good job to take a sit," said trainer Michael Clements.
