Having shown much potential
in his first campaign in Malaysia, LECTERN returned from a failed stint in
Singapore to fulfill his promise by winning first-up in the Maiden - 1200m
handicap at Sungei Besi here today.
From late 2013 to early
last year, LECTERN was placed four times in six starts in Malaysia after
coming from Australia where he managed one placing from four runs.
His owners decided to have
a crack at the lucrative but more competitive Singapore scene. However,
LECTERN, purchased by his original owners for A$7,000 as a three-year-old
race horse, fared badly in four starts at Kranji, finishing dead last in his
last outing last August.
LECTERN subsequently
returned to Malaysia to rejoin trainer Richard Lines and was also sold to
new owners.
After seven months out of
action, LECTERN finally showed what he is capable of when he made all the
running to win today, beating the odds-on favourite GET THE LOTSKI by one
length to pay RM66 for a win.
