Two years after he first
came into prominence by winning the Perak Derby, LITTLEBITOFJOY triumphed in
the 2400m staying test for the second time here today, giving budding
apprentice Amirul Ismadi his biggest win of his career.
Amirul thus emulated the
achievement of his father Ismadi Ismail (who is now a trainer) who scored
astride PEAK OF PERFECTION XI in 1998. His uncle, Azhar Ismail, also won the
Derby on THE SUNTAN in 1993.
LITTLEBITOFJOY became just
the second horse in the history of the Derby dating back to 1950 who won the
race more than once. OPPOSING FORCE won back-to-back Derby in 2001 and 2001
and notched a third win in 2005.
LITTLEBITOFJOY is by far
the best horse trained by Edylyn Goh who only has a handful of horses in
training. She managed just nine winners in the past three years, and
LITTLEBITOFJOY has been responsible for seven of the wins.
This season is shaping up
to be her best yet. Prior to today, she has won three races with other
horses.
LITTLEBITOFJOY had a win
and a third from three starts in the USA before arriving in Malaysia.
