MYCAPTAINOBLIVIOUS is back to his best after a near seven-month layoff.

After a first-up second three weeks ago, the New Zealand gelding made all the running to easily win in the Class 3, Div 2 - 1100m sprint on the polytrack at Kranji here tonight.

The son of Captain Rio was placed twice in five starts in New Zealand but was very consistent early in his Singapore campaign when he chalked up four wins and three placings in his first seven starts.

MYCAPTAINOBLIVIOUS unfortunately bled when he finished unplaced for the first time in August last year.

"When he came back (early this year), we knew there was something wrong with him," said trainer Shane Baertschiger. "I suspected a hairline fracture somewhere and ran all sorts of tests, scintigraphy, scans, you name it, but we found nothing. Anyway, he’s come back good and that’s the most important."

Leading trainer Mark Walker, meanwhile consolidated his position winning his 73rd race of the season when IKING took the Benchmark 67 - 1800m handicap.

The five-time champion New Zealand trainer leads Laurie Laxon by eight wins and looks poised to win his first Singapore championship with 12 race days left of the 2015 season.
