Manoel Nunes resumed riding
at Kranji here tonight after serving a one-month suspension and quickly made
up for lost time by booting home three winners, including two promising
three-year-olds in FAMOUS ARTIST and KAM'S COMET.
FAMOUS ARTIST, made it two
wins and a second from three starts when he easily accounted for a Novice
field over 1200m.
After a runaway win in
Restricted Maiden company in April, he was narrowly beaten in a Novice event
last month but made up for it tonight with Nunes back to partner him.
Nunes also rode KAM'S COMET
in his three previous starts for two wins and the New Zealand gelding was on
target again in the Class 4, Div 1 - 1100m sprint on the polytrack.
Earlier, Nunes piloted
SQUIRE OSBALDESTON to the gelding's maiden win in six starts in Singapore.
The Irish gelding had managed two wins in nine starts in England.
"It’s good to be back a
winner at my first day of riding, especially on a horse who I was very
unlucky with at his last run," said Nunes after dismounting. The
five-year-old finished sixth in a Class 4 - 1700m event last month.
"He was on Polytrack and he
had so many problems in the backstraight. The pace was too slow and he kept
getting checked."
