Parnham lands first win in Singapore

Thrown off his mount in his first-ever ride in Singapore which required time off the track, Brad Parnham then had to endure a losing sequence of 66 rides on his return to action before finally hitting the mark at Kranji here tonight.

The Perth jockey's breakthrough win came on the aptly-named LIKA TIGER in the Kranji Stakes D, Div 1 - 1200m sprint on the polytrack.

Ironically, Parnham had found one to beat twice on COTE DE NUITS in the gelding's last two starts but lost the ride to champion jockey Manoel Nunes tonight.

Parnham instead took the ride on LIKA TIGER on whom he was unplaced the last time out just last Sunday.

COTE DE NUITS started a firm favourite tonight but LIKA TIGER tracked him most of the way before racing away to win by one length.

"It’s pretty special to have my first international winner," said Parnham whose first overseas assignment came two years ago in Mauritius but he failed to ride a winner then.

"It’s been a long time. I didn’t think it would have taken that long. It’s a tough place here, very competitive and I’m so proud to have my first winner tonight."
