Sebrose and Bell get first group win

Fifth in the Derby three months ago, SEBROSE notched his first group win in the S$150,000 El Dorado Classic at Kranji here today and might have earned a crack at the Singapore Gold Cup in three weeks' time.

Ridden by Timothy Bell for the first time, the Australian gelding came from a long way back to beat the front-running ORDER OF THE SUN by one length.

The favourite MR SPIELBERG, who was denied a clear run in the straight, flashed home to finish third in the Group 3 event, run over the same distance of 2200m as the Gold Cup.

But that's not taking anything away from the winner who has now four wins this season, adding one he achieved last year.

SEBROSE is out of the New Zealand Oaks-winning mare BRAMBLE ROSE and was knocked down for A$230,000 as a yearling.

For former Brisbane champion jockey Bell, his first group win in Singapore came just three weeks after making his debut as a Singapore-licensed rider on Oct 9.
