Slew Of Lode tops in Polytrack Mile

SLEW OF LODE outshone two big names to claim the S$200,000 Polytrack Mile Championship (1600m) at Kranji here today.

QUECHUA, winner of his four starts including the Group 1 Singapore Gold Cup and Group 3 New Year's Cup, was the odds-on favourite in the Group 3 weight-for-age event.

TRUDEAU won the Group 2 EW Barker Trophy and Group 3 Garden City Trophy in 2013 and last year crossed the causeway to win the Piala Emas Sultan Selangor in Kuala Lumpur.

But SLEW OF LODE, placed three times in Group 3 races last year, led his rivals on a merry chase in a tactical race on the polytrack and coasted home by three lengths.

It was the fifth win in 14 starts for SLEW OF LODE since coming to Singapore. He also managed two wins and five placings from seven starts in Argentina.
