Zac Spirit wins second Kranji Sprint

ZAC SPIRIT justified his pride of place when he won his second consecutive Group 3 Kranji Sprint (1200m) at Kranji here today.

Rated nine points better than the next best horses, at 112, the Flying Spur gelding easily run down the front-running GOAL KEEPER to record his 10th win in 18 starts.

It was triumphant reunion for jockey John Powell who rode the gelding in his debut win in early 2013 and finished second in their next outing. Since then, three other riders have partnered ZAC SPIRIT to victory.

This time last year, ZAC SPIRIT was on a roll, winning four consecutive races culminating with his win in the Group 1 Lion City Cup.

ZAC SPIRIT went on to chalk up a series of placing before his comeback win in the Macau Jockey Club Trophy (Open Stakes) on Feb 20 last time out.

"He’s done a great job under the weight. I would say he’s more mature physically and mentally this year," said trainer Cliff Brown.

Next, a second Lion City Cup beckons. Then another crack against the international runners in the KrisFlyer International Sprint, in which he finished third last year, next month.
