Stone lands elusive win

It was a win more than two years in
the making for ROCK AND STONE and trainer Peter Fell when the veteran
galloper carved out a narrow win in a Class 5 - 1200m sprint at Sungei Besi
here today.
Fell took over the Australian gelding in September 2013 after the son of
Stormy's Son has notched up two wins the season before.
Although racing consistently in the ensuing 30 runs with numerous placings
to his credit, ROCK AND STONE had to wait until today to get back in the
winner's circle.
It was the second leg of a double for Fell and his apprentice Mohd Khairi
Manif.
A race earlier, they combined to win with GAZOO who was a recent addition to
the trainer's stable. The former Singapore winner was out of action for 11
months and managed two third placings before finding success in a Class 4 -
1200m handicap today.
The double brings Manif's tally to 14
for the year and seven for Fell.
