SUPER ONE is showing just why trainer Michael Freedman was willing to pay A$190,000 to secure him as a yearling.

A runaway in his debut last month, the Australian colt gave jockey Craig Newitt another armchair ride as he cruised to victory in the IRT Juvenile Stakes (1200m) at Kranji here today.

With the win, SUPER ONE has now won two legs of the Aushorse Golden Horseshoe series and is set on taking the big prize, the Group 2 Aushorse Golden Horseshoe (1200m) on May 15.

"It was his first time on turf, and he did have a look around and drift off a little in the home straight," said Freedman. "But he did it well and is improving. The last Leg is right on target, but I’ll have to see how he pulls up first."

Newitt said: "He put himself in the right spot from the start. I just let him do his own things for half of the race as he’s got such a high cruising speed."
