Super consistent BEST TOTHELIGN was back in the winner's circle with an easy all-the-way win at Kranji here today after registering his worse result in his last start.

The New Zealand gelding had an impressive first-season last year when he chalked up four wins, three placings and a fourth from as many starts.

BEST TOTHELIGN again finished on board in all his outings this year, until he came home fifth in a Benchmark 83 event over 1400m early this month.

In a similar event over the longer 1600m today, apprentice Wong Chin Chuen sent the five-year-old to the front and the pair was never caught, coasting home by two lengths.

"The instruction was to sit second, or third or fourth. But after jumping out, no one wanted to go to the front and lead, so I took him to the front," explained Wong who has not 16 wins in Singapore since relocating from Malaysia.

It was his sixth win in 17 starts for BEST TOTHELIGN who cost NZ$100,000 as a yearling.
