Jockey Wan suspended two months

PENANG:  Mar 8, 2015

Jockey Wan Teck Moon was today suspended two months for his handling of RIGHT TIMING in a Class 4 - 1400m sprint in Penang this afternoon.

Trained by Prakhash Pereira, the American entire came from a long way back to finish fourth to MR WHYTE.

At the conclusion of an inquiry into the riding of RIGHT TIMING, after taking evidence from Wan and Pereira, Wan pleaded to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

The particulars of the charge were that whilst riding RIGHT TIMING, Wan became unbalanced at the start, dropped his off-side rein and was slow to begin, and thereafter, he showed lack of vigour and was unbalanced in the home straight.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account Wan’s guilty plea and his reasonably clean riding record. Wan‘s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of two months with effect from Monday, Mar 9 to expire May 8, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal.
