Woodworth gets long-waited Singapore win

While Benny Woodworth has enjoyed considerable success at Sungei Besi this year, the former MRA champion jockey has just managed to land his first win in Singapore — where he is now based — astride XIN TREASURE in the Class 4 - 1100m sprint on the polytrack at Kranji here today.

Now based in Singapore since returning from his stint in Mauritius last year, Woodworth, a four-time MRA champion apprentice, makes regular visit to ride in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday and has chalked up seven wins at the Malaysian capital this year.

But the one he really wanted, a first win in 2015 in Singapore, eluded him until today, and it was third time lucky for Woodworth on XIN TREASURE, having been unplaced on the gelding twice earlier this year.

In fact, it was Woodworth's first win in Singapore since new year's day in 2013 when he scored on PROFOUND.

For XIN TREASURE, it was his sixth win in 47 starts stretching back to November 2011.
