Jockey Yan Weng Kuan, who
booted home just nine winners last season after managing 20 wins the year
before, stole the thunder with a double astride ONLY YOU and CANDY CRUSH.
ONLY YOU, a modest import
who cost only NZ$5,500 as a yearling, impressed by winning his racing debut.
For CANDY CRUSH, it was his sixth win in 28 starts.
There may be no MRA award
this year, but apprentice Wong Kin Chong can still feel proud to have ridden
the most number of winners in Malaysia so far this season.
His win on SUPER CROWN was
his 13th of the year, one more than Harmeet Singh Gill.
In terms of winning
percentages, Yan has the best amongst the jockeys on 30% followed by Wong
with 29.5%.
