It may have taken ARES nine starts
to find his winning form in Singapore, but the Irish gelding is keen to keep
moving in the right direction.
Following his breakthrough win in Class 4 last time out, after having been
placed in five of of his first eight starts, the four-year-old made further
progress to win the Canada Cup 2016 over 1400m at Kranji here tonight.
Apprentice Rueven Ravindra parked ARES just off the pace in the Benchmark 67
event before romping to an easy two-length win.
"He
can be a bit awkward at the start, but he was okay tonight, just a fraction
slow only," said Rueven. "I waited for the straight and thank God, it came
up and once he got the split, he accelerated very well."
Ares started twice as a juvenile in England, finishing second in his debut
then winning his next start at Hamilton.
