Good Baby as good as ever

Nine-year-old GOOD BABY showed that he is as good as ever when he defied a punishing weight to register a runaway win in soft going here today.

After back-to-back wins including the Sprint Trophy last year, the Hussonet gelding returned from a eight-month spell and beat just one home in his defence of the Sprint Trophy last July.

GOOD BABY then showed much improvement from the outing to finish third in his next start before a triumphant return to the winner's circle today.

Carrying 60.5kg on his back, GOOD BABY beat a top-notch field to win by 3 3/4 lengths for his 15th win in 49 starts, giving his trainer Ooi Chin Chin something to cheer about in a miserable season.

Although he won only nine races in his debut season in 2014, Ooi created a big impression by saddling GOOD BABY to win the Coronation Cup that year.

He also won nine races last year but they included the Tunku Gold Cup and Perak Gold Vase with BALOTELLI and the Sprint Trophy with GOOD BABY.

Despite his record, owners have pulled out all but one of the stables in yard and GOOD BABY is the only one he has in training at the moment.
