Triple One D'Best back to his best

TRIPLE ONE D'BEST picked up his first win of the season with a gutsy win in the RM48,000 Dato Yeoh Cheang Lee Trophy, an Enrich Stakes 1 event over 1400m, here today.

Champion jockey Jose De Souza took the Australian six-year-old to the front on settling and made an early breakaway. RIGHT TIMING headed him at the 1000m and assumed control but swung ride at the home turn.

STAR QUALITY then threw out a challenge and hit the front momentarily at the 200m. TRIPLE ONE D'BEST refused to be beaten and raised another effort on the rails. He eventually mastered STAR QUALITY to win by 1 1/4 lengths.

It was his sixth win in 38 starts and brought his earnings past the RM300,000 mark, not bad for the horses who cost just A$3,000 as a yearling.
