Bankers Call lands Kranji-KL double

Normally, an owner would send over a horse from Singapore to Malaysia to give it a second chance if it has been struggling to find form at Kranji.

But in the case of BANKERS CALL, the Australian gelding was sent over to Frank Maynard in Kuala Lumpur right after he notched his fifth win in 42 starts in a Class 5 event in Singapore last July.

In Malaysia, BANKERS CALL was re-classified in Class 4 but that did not stop him from winning first-up in the country in a 1100m handicap at Sungei Besi here today.

Also winning first-up today after coming over from Singapore was HOLDING FAST.

The Irish gelding struggled to win at Kranji but was placed five times in 14 starts.

Sent over to trainer Richard Lines, HOLDING FAST romped home by 2 1/4 lengths in a Class 4 - 1100m handicap.

It has been a struggle for the Irish gelding who was placed six times in 13 starts over two seasons in England before coming to Singapore.
