Hong Kong jockey Matthew Chadwick tasted success for the first time in Singapore when he partnered MASTER BANGER to win the opening event at Kranji here tonight.

Licensed for five weeks to ride in the republic during the Hong Kong summer break, the Australian-trained rider had a second and a third from nine rides last week.

Chadwick started the second week of his stint with a 'bang' literally, piloting MASTER BANGER to a four-length victory. It was the second win in 15 starts by the four-year-old who is a half-brother to FRIENDSHIP ADMIRAL and EAST CHAMP.

"I kept looking at the screen to make sure I was clear. I was not about to let that first win in Singapore get away,” said Chadwick who was first in Singapore to ride CALIFORNIA MEMORY in the 2011 Singapore Airlines International Cup. "It’s good to get my first win in Singapore. The quality of rides I picked up was much better this week, and I was able to take full advantage of this one."
