gets another group win

victory in the Panasonic Kranji Mile

DEBT COLLECTOR added the Panasonic
Kranji Mile to his growing list of group wins when successful in the Group 1
event at Kranji here today.
The win did not come easy for the son of Thorn Park for he had to battle
seven top-notch rivals before prevailing by a neck over WELL DONE.
Earlier in the year, DEBT COLLECTOR won the final two legs of the
Three-Year-Old Challenge series, the Group 2 Three-Year-Old Classic and the
Group 1 Singapore Guineas.
Turning four, the New Zealand gelding picked up where he left off to win the
Group 3 Jumbo Jet Trophy and made it five wins in-a-row in the Kranji Mile.
Ridden by Michael Rodd who has partnered him in his last four starts, DEBT
COLLECTOR came from second last early in the eight-horse field to battle his
way to victory.
"I
thought he would be in trouble today. He was struggling at the 700m, at
least it looked that way," said trainer Cliff Crown who purchased the horse
for NZ$120,000 at the Ready To Run sale. "To be honest, I thought he was
handier than usual today. But I had left it to Michael and I trusted he knew
what he was doing."
DEBT COLLECTOR has now started nine times for six wins.
