Apprentice Lee Chun Tik, who won eight races
last year in his second season on the scene, had to wait until today to land
his first win of the 2016 season on MOGAN'S PET.
However, the apprentice also made it a memorable afternoon to record his
first double with another strike on BLACK VISCOUNT.
Lee, indentured to trainer Lim Hoon Seng, ended his long run of "outs" when
he piloted MOGAN'S PET, a horse he had partnered to victory once last year.
Despite finishing in the tail-end in his last three outings, the New Zealand
gelding was sent out the even-money favourite and Lee had to worked overtime
to bring the six-year-old a short head ahead of outsider HAPPY CHOICE. It
was his sixth win in 33 starts.
BLACK VISCOUNT made all the running, but had to stave off a determined bid
by ADMIRAL DELIGHT before winning by a neck for his sixth win.
