I'VE GOT A FEELING has taken the first step to try to emulate the feats of his famous mother when he captured the Inglis Ready2Race Stakes for two-year-olds at Kranji here today.

After finishing on board in his first two starts, the son of Encosta De Lago made the experience count by leading throughout in the fifth leg of the Aushorse Golden Horseshoe series.

I'VE GOT A FEELING has got an unenviable task, for his dam is ZIRNA, a Group 1 winner in New Zealand and was Horse of the Year in Singapore in 2003, winning the Singapore Gold Cup and Raffles Cup.

Trainer Shane Baertschiger had to go to NZ$150,000 to secure the youngster in the Ready To Run sale.

"I thought being out of Zirna, he would be more a three-year-old over middle distances, but he’s won which is great," said Baertschiger.

ZIRNA's first progeny to race in Singapore was RAZIYYA OF SYDNEY who did not rise to great heights, although he did win three races and was fourth to BETTER LIFE in the Singapore Derby in 2013.
