Rich Fortune to bring more rewards

RICH FORTUNE, who cost a modest NZ$20,000 as a yearling, looks set to bring much reward for his connections in the months head in Singapore.

Following a come-from-behind win in his debut over 1000m three weeks ago, the three-year-old showed that he can also race with the pace in the Novice - 1200m sprint at Kranji here today.

Travelling well in third spot early, RICH FORTUNE hit the front making the turn into the straight and just held on to win by a short head from the fast-finishing MURRAYFIELD.

RICH FORTUNE has a lot going for him. His dam won five races from 1200m to 1600m including two Group 3 events, the WRC Desert Gold Stakes and Masterton Lowland Stakes and was second in the Group 1 New Zealand One Thousand Guineas.

"It’s only his second run and he was still on the fat side, but he showed he had a very big heart," said trainer Alwin Tan. "It was a strong field and he still won. That run will surely top him off for the 3YO series."
