|
Jockey Thanggarajaneesh Munusamy (M Gaaneesh) was today charged for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the stewards on SACRED CITY and DEKATI and suspended three months. He was also fined a total of RM20,000.
SACRED CITY, who was third favourite, finished sixth to PROHIBITION in a Class 4 - 1200m here yesterday. The Stewards today concluded an inquiry into Ganeesh’s ride on SACRED CITY and evidence was taken from him.
After viewing the official patrol films of this event and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards acting on their own observations, Ganeesh pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge were that upon jumping, the Stewards believed that he failed to show sufficient vigour to try and ride to his instructions in the early stages, and he elected to take hold of his horse and just sit the horse rather than urging it forward to gain a handy position. In assessing the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Ganeesh’s guilty plea, mitigating factors, previous riding record and his submissions on penalty. Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of Ganeesh’s suspension. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of two months with effect from Mar 13 and to May 12 May, both dates inclusive. He was also fined RM10,000 and advised of his right of appeal.
Ganeesh was also hauled up after his ride on DEKATI, who also started third favourite and finished sixth to TIDAL WAVE in a Class 4 - 1200m handicap today.
At the conclusion of an inquiry, after viewing the official patrol films of this event and considering the evidence tendered, the Stewards acting on their own observations, Ganeesh pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge were that: 1. Upon jumping, he failed to ride to the Trainer’s Instruction Form by taking hold of his horse rather than urging it as would be expected and to attempt to get to handy to midfield position resulting in him being towards the rear of the field; and 2. Over the final 200m of the event, he allowed DEKATI to shift out and turned his horse’s head outwards when there was a clear run in front and consequently, covering extra ground. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of three months with effect from Mar 13 to Jun 12, both dates inclusive, to be served concurrently with his suspension for SACRED CITY. He was also fined RM10,000 and advised of his right of appeal. |
