Goodfellas runaway winner in debut

GOODFELLAS created a big impression in his debut with a runaway win in the Breakthrough Stakes over 1400m here today.

Passed in at NZ$38,000 when the bidding failed to reach his reserved price of NZ$50,000, the Mr Nancho gelding showed his class when he toyed with his nine rivals to win by 2 1/2 lengths. He paid RM6, the shortest-priced of the season thus far.

It was the second win of the afternoon for Martin Wepner who earlier scored on BOWEN BOY.

Singapore-based Benny Woodworth was rewarded with a popular win on PIUS TOUCH (RM8) after making the trip up north.
