  Six wins in seven starts, including three Cup races. That's the proud record of IMPEL since he moved up north to join trainer Frank Maynard last year.

A two-time winner in New Zealand, the Gonski gelding had a creditable record of one win and four placings in eight outings in Singapore.

But his form in Malaysia has been simply amazing.

Winner of the Tunku Gold Cup (1200m) last February, IMPEL also captured the Kenilworth Cup (1100m) last month and carried that form into the Perak Gold Vase here today.

Always in touch with the leaders in the 1100m straight race where the field were stretched across the track, IMPEL hit the front inside the 300m and cleared away in the run home to win by 2 3/4 lengths.
