Jackman begins final month with a win

KUALA LUMPUR:  Jul 2, 2016

Troy Jackman began the last month of his tenure as a trainer in Malaysia with a winner at Sungei Besi here today.

The former jockey-turned-trainer is relinquishing his licence at the end of the month, just over 14 months after being given the nod by the MRA.

Jackman took over TWIST OLIVER last March and has now won two races in seven starts with the Argentinian gelding.

Ridden by M Hanif, the six-year-old came from well off the pace to beat the joint favourite AIR STRIKE who was attempting to make all the running in a Class 5 - 1200m sprint. The other favourite LITTLE LION finished fifth. 

Jackman is a former top Perth rider who won two two Perth Cups and one Adelaide Cup and has ridden successfully in Mauritius (where he won the Gold Cup in 1997), Malaysia, Singapore and India.

Jackman became assistant trainer to Peter Fell in March 2014 before setting up his own stables.
