Flying start to season for Kiwi Karma

KIWI KARMA, who had a hat-trick in the first half of 2014 and repeated the feat early last year, has begun the new season with two wins from two starts.

In her current form, the New Zealand mare could well bring off another hat-trick this term. "Dubai is still on the cards and I guess it’s one step closer after tonight. The plan is to next race her in the Merlion Trophy, but we’ll have to see how she gets out of tonight’s ordeal," said Michael White, assistant trainer to Michael Clements.

KIWI KARMA easily accounted for five rivals in a Class 1 - 1200m handicap three weeks ago and the strength of that win, she was backed down to odds-on in a Kranji Stakes A event over 1200m tonight.

Ridden by Manoel Nunes, the mare went to the front from the word "go" and held on to his advatnage to win by one length. Nunes has now partnered her in all her eight wins which included the Group 3 CECF Singapore Prestige Classic (1400m) and Group 3 Singapore 3YO Sprint (1200m) last year.
