After three seconds and a third earlier in the evening, new-kid-on-the-block James Peters managed to saddle his maiden winner in his very first day in action at Kranji here tonight.

OLYMPIC ANTHEM gave the budding trainer the ideal start, after having worked from trackwork rider to assistant trainer to the departed Michael Freedman.

"It's a relief more than anything else as we’ve already had a couple of seconds and thirds before,” said the Englishman who was also a former amateur rider. "I have to admit there was a bit more pressure tonight as it was the first time my name was on the racebooks, but there was no change to the routine."

 

OLYMPIC ANTHEM, ridden by Noresh Juglall who recently returned to riding after recovering from injury, came from a long way back in the running to defeat the favourite MY LUCKY STRIKE by one length.

 

It was the fourth win in 10 starts in Singapore for the New Zealand gelding who raced for one season in Australia, picking up three wins and was fourth in the Group 2 Queensland Guineas and Group 3 Gunsynd Classic.
