Lim's Racer shines
in Golden Horseshoe

New Zealand filly LIM'S RACER
outsprinted a field of mostly males to win this year's Aushorse Golden
Horseshoe (1200m) at Kranji here tonight.
Soundly beaten in her debut last May, the daughter of RED GIANT improved
significantly to make all the running in her next start in Restricted Maiden
company.
Aided by a good barrier draw, LIM'S RACER got to the front as the field of
15 settled down but was headed by CAORUNN approaching the 800m.
From there it was neck-and-neck for the duo to the line with LIM'S RACER
winning by a neck. Another filly ATHENA was another 1 1/2 lengths away
third.
"I
thought the other horse (CAORUNN) had her, she was headed twice, but she
fought back like a real bulldog," said winning trainer Steven Burridge. "We
always knew she had talent, but she was really disappointing at her first
run. She actually pulled a muscle and had some tying up."
