RUM N RAISINS, who went through 2015 without success, bounced back to form to deliver a huge shock on the third racing day of the new season at Kranji here tonight.

The Australian gelding scored twice in 2014, the last coming in November of that year. Since then he has managed just two third placing in 10 starts.

With THE COSMOS (one win, three seconds in four starts) tipped as a sure thing, RUM N RAISINS went off the Class 4 - 1000m sprint at $331 on the win tote.

After settling just behind the pace, RUM N RAISINS (Sam Subian) had to switch out from behind a line of horses in the home stretch to beat LUCKY SIX by a head in a keenly contested race.

"He’s actually been showing some improvement on the track since I’ve been riding him after he suffered from muscle tightness," said Sam who had only one ride for the evening. "But I didn’t think he could win as I thought the trip would be too short, but he surprised me when he jumped well and was travelling well in fifth spot."

The other big surprise of the evening came in the last race when SECRET MISSION romped home by 3-1/4 lengths to pay $292. It was the third win in 35 starts in Singapore for the gelding who has three wins in Argentina, including two Group 3.
