Corey Brown takes lead with double

It was a case of making hay while the sun shines for Corey Brown who snatched the lead in the jockey's table with a double astride the returning SPALATO and the promising RISKY ROCKEFELLER.

SPALATO, who has not raced since finishing second to GOLD RUTILE in the Group 2 EW Barker Trophy (1400m) in mid-November, came from last at the home turn in a six-horse field to win the Kranji Stakes A - 1000m sprint on the polytrack.

The son of Elusive City was unbeaten in six starts at Kranji in 2014 but fared badly in two starts in Hong Kong.

It was back to business for SPALATO with wins in the Woodlands Handicap and Jumbo Jet Trophy last year before finishing fourth in the Kranji Mile, then the EW Barker Trophy.

RISKY ROCKEFELLER had a late start to his career but won his debut and finished second in his only other start at four in country tracks in Australia.

But the gelding has now won both his two starts in Singapore. After winning his debut last August, he resumed today and romped home by two lengths in the final event today.

Brown has now 13 winners for the season, the same as Manoel Nunes who is serving a six-day suspension for careless riding, but has more second placing.
