throws big upset

After finishing dead last in his
previous start in April, KEEP SPINNING showed the benefit of a short let-up
since to create of the biggest upsets of the season when taking the AIS Cup
at Kranji here tonight.
Settling second last early, the son of Keeper was still 11th of 13 runners
at the home bend in the Class 4 - 1400m handicap.
But under apprentice Wong Chin Chuen, KEEP SPINNING put on "wings" in the
home stretch to win drawing away by 1 3/4 lengths. He paid $606 for his
third win in 18 starts.
It was Wong's second winner of the evening after scoring on SATELLITE STAR
and the Malaysian lad now leads the apprentice table with 22 wins.
The Aurora Cup (Class 5 - 1800m)
was decided in the steward's room when Manoel Nunes, rider of the
third-placed ALFONSO successfully lodged a protest against HOLY TRILOGY,
first past the post, for interference.
As a result, OVER EASY was promoted
to first, giving apprentice Firdhaus Rafi a welcome change of luck.
