Uzair shares honours in maiden win

Apprentice Uzair bin Sharudin could not have asked for a better start to his riding career when he scored in his maiden ride astride UNME at Sungei Besi here today.

But the young lad had to share honours with champion jockey Jose De Souza on RED SAPPHIRE when the two horses hit the line at the same time in the open event.

UNME is trained by Peter Fell who has informed the MRA that he will relinquish his licence on Nov 1.

Malaysian bred UNME has won her share of races, this being her seventh win in 50 starts.

RED SAPPHIRE has now scored twice in Malaysia after having landed one win in Singapore.
