Well Done to Kok and Rodd in Derby

For the second time in two months, Michael Rodd picked up a Group 1 win after another jockey opted to ride another horse.

In April, Rodd picked up the ride on DEBT COLLECTOR and promptly won the Three-Year-Old Classic followed by the Group 1 Singapore Guineas.

Glen Boss, who partnered WELL DONE to victory in the Patron's Bowl (1600m) last month, went for MR SPIELBERG in the Emirates Singapore Derby (2000m) today.

Rodd seized his chance on WELL DONE, a horse he had partnered once for a win in a Class 3 race two months ago, settling the New Zealand gelding on the fence worse than midfield, then bidding for his chance to bring the gelding home with a late burst to win by 3/4 length from MAJESTIC MOMENTS.

It was the first Singapore Derby win for trainer David Kok. "Winning the Kranji Mile in 2014 with CASH LUCK) was such a big day for me, then the Patron’s Bowl was even more special as unlike CASH LUCK (previously with Michael Freedman), WELL DONE was my horse from Day 1, I’ve groomed him from an unraced to what he is now," said the Singaporean.

"I’m really beside myself now, really emotional. This is all pretty special," said Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Rodd. "It’s been a rough year with all the injuries and a slower start than last year, but to be able to bounce back and win the Singapore Derby, it’s just amazing."

WELL DONE has now seven wins from 17 starts.
