COMONBABY, who found one to beat with Mohd Zaimuddin Chee
Abdul Aziz astride over 1600m in his last start, scored a runaway win over a
shorter 1300m trip at Sungei Besi here today to give the apprentice his
first win in 11 rides.
Zaimuddin tucked the four-year-old in fourth spot before
challenging for the lead, then drew away to win as he liked by 4 3/4
lengths.
It was the second win in nine starts for the Australian
gelding since coming over from Singapore where he fared badly five runs.
Fellow apprentice Krisna
Kumar Thangamani also had reason to celebrate
as he recorded his first double with IRREPRESSIBLE and SWEET LODGE.
It was the maiden win in
16 starts for IRREPRESSIBLE in Singapore and Malaysia.
For SWEET LODGE, it was a comeback victory for
the three-time Kranji winner. Since
coming under Frank Maynard, the Australian
gelding has now been placed in four of five outings.
