DEBT COLLECTOR resumed from a spell
and had no problem picking up where he left off in the S$125,000 Canada Cup
at Kranji here tonight.
The New Zealand gelding was named Horse Of The Year in 2016 after six
unbeaten starts during the year, winning five group races, including three
Group 1.
In winning the Open Stakes over 1400m tonight, DEBT COLLECTOR actually
stretch his winning streak to eight wins and is just a win away from earning
a trip to Dubai.
Ridden by Michael Rodd who has been responsible for seven of his wins, DEBT
COLLECTOR came from last early and displayed a swift turn of feet to run
down his rivals one by one to win drawing away by 1 1/4 lengths.
It was a performance that even surprised his regular rider. "That
was his softest win yet, but again, he is the type who is more switched on
at the business end," said Rodd. "He obviously would like to have more
ground, but he’s got that amazing turn of foot he can sustain for a long
time."
DEBT COLLECTOR will have another run in three weeks' time and if he passes
that test, will head for Dubai to contest the
the US$6 million Group 1 Dubai Turf (1800m) at Meydan on March 25.
