COUNTOFMONTECRISTO maintained his unbeaten record when he captured the Singapore Three-Year-Old Classic at Kranji here today to add to the Three-Year-Old Sprint which he won at his last start.

The New Zealand gelding has now won all his five starts since making his debut in January.

"I thought today would be his biggest test, but this horse has answered in the best possible way every time we step him up," said trainer Michael Clements.

COUNTOFMONTECRISTO was stepping up from 1200m to 1400m for the first time today and he passed the test with flying colours.

"We knew he was looking for more ground. It’s onwards and upwards to the Guineas now," declared Clements.

And if COUNTOFMONTECRISTO succeeds in the Guineas, he will emulate the feat of another Joe Giovanni-owned galloper, GINGERBREAD MAN in 2011, in making a clean sweep of the Three-Year-Old series.
