Lim's Cruiser sprints to victory

After winning up to a mile in the second half of 2016, a freshened-up LIM'S CRUISER took the sprinters at the game and emerged triumphant in the S$200,000 Rocket Man Sprint at Kranji here today.

Previously known as the Kranji Sprint, the Group 3 is renamed this year to honour Singapore's best known sprinter with two international Group 1 wins to his name.

Placed once in two starts in New Zealand, LIM'S CRUISER has been placed in all his eight starts in Singapore, winning five times, including the Group 2 EW Barker Trophy last November.

Beaten for early pace, LIM'S CRUISER was last early in the 12-horse field but turned in a terrific burst of speed to win by a head from CAVALLO who also came from a long way back to charge home.

"We knew that the pace would be strong. The idea was to ride him quiet, and pray for a bit of luck, Danny (Beasley) was patient and got the run through," said trainer Stephen Gray. "We will go for the Singapore four-year-old series as he’s not really a sprinter."
