D'Great Effort lands second 3YO heat

PENANG:  Jun 11, 2017

After finding one to beat in the first heat, D'GREAT EFFORT made amends to win the second heat of the Malaysia 3YO Champion here today, but not before surviving a keen duel with newcomer POKEMON BABY.

Ridden by apprentice Wong Kam Chong, the Australian gelding took command on settling down. POKEMON BABY went after the leader at the half-way mark, racing on his outside.

D'GREAT EFFORT kicked away at the top of the straight but POKEMON BABY came on strongly in the final 100m but the leader just held on to win a neck.

D'GREAT EFFORT won three times in nine starts in Australia and found PORSENCE a shade too good in his debut last month.

PORSENCE, meanwhile, followed up that win to capture the Novice - 1200m sprint today.
