MR FATKID resumed after a short spell and immediately
picked up where he let off with an easy win in the Class 3, Div 2 - 1400m
handicap at Kranji here tonight.
Before his break, New Zealand gelding has come from behind to win over 1800m
in Class 4, the first time he was tested beyond 1400m.
Promoted a class for that win in May, MR FATKID overcame rough passages at
the top of the straight, then displayed a swift turn of foot to win by 1 1/4
lengths. It was his fourth win in eight starts.
A relieved Grylls, who was riding for trainer Cliff Brown for the first
time, said: "The
horse couldn’t get out, but once he got a passage, he travelled up through
it nicely and he was running away from them in the last bit."
It was Grylls' winner in Singapore.
