FEROCIOUS overcame rough passages
to clinch the penultimate leg of the Singapore Golden Horseshoe series in
sensational manner at Kranji here tonight.
Still second last at the home turn in the 13-horse field, the son of Sebring
finally got going in the home stretch, weaved between runners and drew away
to win by 2 1/4 lengths in the IRT Juvenile Stakes.
Bought for NZ$120,000 at the Ready To Run sale, FEROCIOUS must be considered
a serious contender for the Group 3 Juvenile Championship at the end of next
month.
"He
was a little slow out of the gates, which threw off our plan to sit handier.
But Shafiq was able to hold him together and gave him a lovely patient
ride," said winning trainer Mark Walker.
"He was a bit of a colt when he first came to us and we gelded him. I think
he’s a really nice horse, and there are a few two-year-old options for him.”
